Commitment to Child Safety

At Flying Fruit Fly Circus (FFFC), children have a fundamental right to be safe, feel safe, and to be supported to thrive.

As Australia’s National Youth Circus, we work closely with children and young people in physically active, creative and collaborative environments. We recognise the responsibility this brings, and we are committed to ensuring that every child and young person who engages with our programs, training, performances and activities is safe, respected and supported.

We have zero tolerance for child abuse, harm, exploitation, grooming or neglect in any form.

We are proud to be a Child Safe Organisation and commit to the safety, wellbeing and empowerment of every child.

To keep children safe, we commit to:

      • Implementing the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations, and applicable Child Safe Standards across all jurisdictions in which it operates.
      • Providing safe, supportive and inclusive environments for all children.
      • Making sure children are not exposed to any form of harm, abuse or exploitation
      • Empowering children to participate in decisions that affect them, and supporting them to express their views, concerns and experiences.
      • Making sure children know who they can talk to if they feel unsafe or have a concern.

As a child safe organisation, we commit to:

              • Educating everyone in our organisation about child safety, so we can prevent, identify and respond to harm.
              • Making sure everyone involved in our organisation knows how to appropriately respond to complaints, allegations, disclosures and breaches to our Code of Conduct.
              • Actively supporting children from diverse backgrounds, including First Nations children, children with disability and children from culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
              • Welcoming feedback to continuously improve our child safe practices.
              • Making sure everyone who engages with our organisation understands that child safety is a shared responsibility, and their behaviour aligns with our child safe practices.

Our Child Safe Policy sets out how we put these commitments into practice in our governance and daily operations.
