EXPRESSION OF INTEREST: NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTORS
The Flying Fruit Fly Circus is the leading Australian centre for contemporary circus training and performance and is regarded as one of the world’s finest youth circus ensembles. In 2029 we will celebrate our 50th anniversary, marking half a century of providing exceptional, life-changing opportunities for the best young circus artists in Australia.
We are seeking Non-Executive Directors to join our volunteer Board and lead us into the future.
Why join the Flying Fruit Fly Circus?
As a Board Director, you will play a pivotal role in guiding FFFC through this significant period in our history. We are particularly interested in hearing from individuals with strong skills in Philanthropy & Fundraising, Youth & Education, Legal and Financial Management. While experience or interest in circus and the performing arts is highly regarded, a passion and commitment to our mission is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Contribute to the strategic direction and governance of FFFC.
- Financial Oversight: Provide oversight of FFFC’s financial performance and risk management.
- Philanthropy and Fundraising: Provide expertise in building and nurturing relationships with donors, sponsors and other key stakeholders to support FFFC’s strategic priorities and financial sustainability.
Core Commitment
- Attend six Board meetings annually plus planning days as required
- Participate in at least one subcommittee
- Engage with FFFC activities by attending company events
Board appointments are for three years, with the ability to renominate. We would hope that new appointments would see us through our 50th anniversary in 2029.
Different Perspectives
FFFC is committed to equity, access and inclusion at every level of our organisation. We welcome applications from individuals with diverse lived experience and skills; previous board experience is beneficial but not essential.
We strongly encourage applications from:
- First Nations people
- People with disability
- People from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
- People who identify as LGBTQIA+
As an organisation with a national remit, we are looking for Board members based in Australia. While some appointments will be local to Albury-Wodonga, this is not a requirement for all positions.
Expression of Interest Requirements
To express your interest in joining the FFFC Board, please provide a letter of interest (maximum two A4 pages) that details the following:
- Your Experience: Outline your professional background, particularly highlighting any experience relevant to our Board priorities and/or the performing arts. Please provide specific examples of how your skills and experience align with the needs of FFFC.
- Your Interest: Explain your motivation for joining the FFFC Board, and how you believe you can contribute to the company’s success as it approaches its 50th anniversary in 2029.
- Commitment to the Role: Demonstrate your willingness and ability to meet the commitments associated with being a Board Director, including attending Board meetings, participating in subcommittees, and engaging with company events.
