The Noel Tovey Scholarship Fund was established by Noel Tovey and the Flying Fruit Fly Foundation in 2004 to address the financial barrier that some families face in sending their child to the Flying Fruit Fly Circus.
Up to four scholarships are awarded through a competitive application process each year. The Scholarship covers up to one year’s training fees at the Circus.
In the last twelve years over 25 students have received a Noel Tovey Scholarship, allowing them to learn and train with one of the world’s leading youth arts companies.
Training fees to Fruit Fly are set at approximately 25% of the total training cost, or $4,000 in 2017. The Flying Fruit Fly Circus is committed to raising funds to strenghten the Noel Tovey Scholarship Fund and honour Noel Tovey’s dedication to young people and the arts.
We aim to raise $16,000 a year in order to be able to offer four full scholarships annually. Please help us to reach our target by donating to the fund today.
Noel Tovey AM is an Australian dancer, actor, mentor, director and choreographer.
He played the lead role in Skipping on Stars based on the life of indigenous tightwire walker Con Colleano, performed to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Flying Fruit Fly Circus.
He was so moved by the experience that he set up a scholarship fund in his name to support young circus performers who could benefit from a circus education with the Fruities.
